The most moving memorial benches are not necessarily the busiest. They select a few details that immediately feel familiar: a face, a landscape, an occupation, a pet, a favourite pastime or a phrase everyone remembers.
Begin with the person's story
Write down the places, people and activities most closely associated with them. Look for details that can be recognised visually rather than trying to include an entire life story in text. A fishing rod, locomotive, garden flower, musical instrument or view can say more than a long generic inscription.
Portrait memorial bench ideas
A portrait can become the main focus of the back panel or sit alongside a scene and inscription. Choose a photograph with a clear view of the face, natural expression and enough contrast to identify important features.
